My Week at the Falls Creek Youth Camp
Posted On: 07/22/2008 11:16:33
Dear Friends,

Many have asked about my week at camp and so I want to share with you about my week there.

The Sunday night before I left for camp I was very ill and it is the first time that has happened to me in a year or so (Similar to the problem I had in 2003 when I was hospitalized for several days but thankfully not as severe.). Leaving the next morning to drive 240 miles with a group of young people (and they are all good kids) was not something that I wanted to do. Camp was hard, difficult, but good and I knew and know that I needed to be there. God did speak to my heart in several ways during the week and I had the opportunity to be an instrument through which He could speak to some of the young people.

One morning while I was out walking early before most of the camp was awake I walked up a narrow path to an amphitheater. The second time I walked up to the amphitheater, about halfway up the path I looked down and saw a dime which I picked up. While walking down the path again at about the halfway point I looked down and saw another dime which I again picked up. It has probably been years since I have found a dime while walking.

In the morning service, one of the first speakers said in his brief appearance while holding up a penny: "Whenever I find a coin like this penny I always thank God for His provision in the past and for His provision in the future." I knew that God was speaking to me. As I had been walking and found the coins I had been praying about His provision in my life.

The next morning while I was out walking and just as I began to pray about God's provision I looked down and found a penny. I believe that God is saying that just as He has provided for us in the past (in so many ways ie health, ministry opportunities, and financially) He will continue to provide for us in the future. He certainly provided for my well being during the week and I am fine now. God is very real, and very capable of speaking to us at the point of our need even in these times.

Thanks to all who prayed for me during the week!!

Praying for you,

Ed
